Something for everyone in North Norfolk: sandy beaches, seal trips, a bit of rock-pooling. Art galleries, birdwatching, gastropubs, pretty flint cottage villages and historic churches. Farm shops, cafés and delicatessens are all nearby.
Take the train on the Poppy Line between Holt and Sheringham through Norfolk's stunning coastal countryside. Fun for kids! And adults can re-live those bygone days of steam trains and evocative station paraphernalia.
If the beach is your thing, then the expanses of Holkham, Brancaster and Wells beaches are for you! Enough sand for kites, cricket, picnics and a walk to paddle in the sea. What about a spot of crabbing on the sea front at Blakeney or a boat trip out to Blakeney Point to see the seals?
The countryside is a wildlife haven. Ducks and butterflies, owls and rabbits are everywhere, including in the cottage garden. Nearby are coastal reserves and famous nature parks: a birdwatchers' delight!
History is all around. Binham Priory, a Benedictine Abbey walking distance from the cottage. Stately homes at Holkham Hall, Felbrigg and Blickling are all a great day out. The unspoilt Georgian town of Holt has shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and art galleries.
